Two screens are better than one

Microsoft research found that increasing screen area, by using the equivalent of two 19″ screens, increased productivity between 9 and 50%. Memory capability, and multi-tasking are much improved.

The studies also showed that women benefited even more with increased screen area.

Steve Richards reports that with three 19″ screens he has experienced a productivity increase of 10-30%. He said that he feels more relaxed, and is better able to manage the screen content.

Barry Manilow: Anti-hoon weapon

The singing of Barry Manilow and Doris Day is being used by Rockdale Council, in Sydney’s south, to keep rev-head hoons from loitering in car parks. Other shopping centres or car parks have successfully played Bing Crosby or classical music to reduce loitering.

Countries and US States visited

Apparently I’ve been to only 8% of the world’s countries (excluding countries where I just had stopovers):
create your own visited countries map.

And then I’ve been to 21% of the US States (again excluding flight stopover places):
create your own visited states map.
